I am definitely inspired by my latest bride and good friend, Gwen. Her playful spirit, intelligence, great sense of style, and regard for "greener" practices led to this paperless/website wedding invitation. I am so honored to have had the opportunity to work on this for Gwen and Jeremy and can hardly wait to celebrate their marriage with them in August.
The process began with Gwen letting me know she wanted illustrations of their spirit animals - a river otter and a black crow - for the invite. I began with a few drawings of each and ended up with the illustrations below. Gwen and I both felt excited and inspired by the results, so we moved forward with the design and layout of the invite.
The typography choices and layout were inspired by vintage apothecary bottle labels, which is also why we decided to keep everything in black and white. A ribbon banner was hand drawn and used for the RSVP button and on the RSVP page.
Gwen and I worked together to layout text and graphics for the additional pages, and Gwen's best friend, Tori, created additional illustrations for the Agenda page. The result is an overall feeling of playful yet meaningful joy and celebration, with a homespun feel that is undeniably authentic.
Hooray for Gwen and Jeremy! Two of the coolest people I know. Cheers to a wonderful and long-lasting partnership.
