Spinphony, a Denver-based Pop-Baroque quartet, released their first full-length album, Toccatastruck, in early December. They approached me in late summer about doing artwork for their new album and I was both instantly honored and excited to take on the project.
We wanted to keep in line with the Pop-Baroque them and so knew right off the bat we wanted to incorporate gold filigree. The filigree is hand-drawn, which began with pen and paper, moving into Illustrator and Photoshop to achieve the final effect. The filigree floats throughout the layout popping against the stunning black and white photographs of the band. Spinphony's logo is pink, so we also incorporated pink into the layout as an accent color.
We illustrated a violin for the CD label, bending the graphic and placing in the band name as well as album title in a way that wraps itself around the center of the CD. The final effect is pretty cool when seen spinning around!
It was so fun to work with Spinphony on their album's artwork and design. Best of luck to them as they launch into 2017! May they experience continued success. You can check out their music here: http://www.spinphonystrings.com/
