I absolutely loved illustrating the Flatirons for these two love birds, Hope and Charles! The couple will wed in mid-September on Milston Well Farm, which is very close to Boulder, Colorado. The majority of out-of-town guests will be staying in Chautauqua Park, which features epic views of the Flatirons, and therefore Hope and Charles wanted to make them the focal point of their invitations.
To begin the process, I drove out to Chautauqua one day to photograph the mountains, which acted as reference for the illustration, and can be seen throughout the suite. I added a pine sprig with pine cone to further the design and set the tone for a Colorado wedding. The typography is rustic, with a slab, eroded font that anchors the layout. We went with the earthy, clean and modern color palette of avocado and slate gray which translated nicely in the illustrations.
The A7 invitation cards were printed and adhered to an A7 avocado card, adding just a hint of border color around the invite cards and adding further stability for the invite card itself. The labels for both the outer and RSVP envelopes were custom designed to match the invitations, creating a cohesive bundle. This package was designed, printed, trimmed and hand-assembled by us in our studio.
I am both thrilled and so very grateful to have been asked to design these invitations for Hope & Charles! These are two awesome people who make such a solid, beautiful couple. It is an honor to be a part of their celebration in this way. I wish them all the best as they continue their lives together and especially as they say 'I do!' in September.
